Perceived 'Glass Ceiling' Dimensions of Women's Career Advancement at Higher Education Institutions: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis

Over the last few decades, Indian higher education sector is witnessing a significant rise in number of women faculty positions. However, their career progression academic hierarchy appears to be slow. They tend remain concentrated toward entry-level The present study aims identify perceived 'Glass Ceiling' barriers hindering advancement members at institutions (HEIs). Secondly, this attempts find impact on HEIs. Using purposive sampling method, responses from 252 designated as assistant professors, associate and professors HEIs Jaipur City (Rajasthan, India) were collected through structured questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis has been applied barriers, followed by structural equation model using AMOS advancement. findings exhibit recognized gender stereotypes, attitudinal aversions, family organizational factors which create 'glass ceiling' effect for restrict them progression. identification multiple offers substantial contribution policymakers
